APCC denies threat to Tuki Govt
ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has denied any threat to Nabam Tuki led government as reported in media.
Dismissing the report that some Congress legislators, including few ministers, have joined hands to try and topple Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, APCC President Padi Richo in a press statement claimed that there was no rebellion against the Chief Minister.
The report is false, fabricated and there is no iota of truth, the APCC President said.
“All the legislators are right now in the station with the Chief Minister. How can an expelled member like Kalikho Pul lead few ministers to topple a popularly elected government”? the APCC President said.
He, however asked the ministers, whose names have appeared in the news to clarify their stands immediately.

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: After months of speculation, secret meetings and extended vacation in New Delhi, the deep divide within the ruling Congress Party is out in open, courtesy, a statement issued by the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) to the press where it said that anti party activities by Congress leaders will be viewed seriously.
The APCC decree came few weeks after the beleaguered Chief Minister Nabam Tuki is reported to have met the functionaries of All India Congress Committee, in Delhi, who apparently told him that there would be no change of guard in the state. Obviously, the other camp led by Kalikho Pul and co is not amused.
Sadly, for the state, Congress infighting has spilled out at the wrong time, sending a clear message what the Party’s priorities are, more so the priorities of the dissidents, as the state is already dealing with uncertain times following the SC verdict seeking grant of citizenship rights to Chakma and Hajong refugees.

If the Chief Minister or the AICC is unable to control the party rebellion, there would be no option but to call for a midterm poll. This is a highly improbable scene though as of now. With all resources spent in the last election, MLAs or their parties would be rather reluctant to take the plunge so early, no matter what they say in public. Even the ambitious state BJP would not want midterm poll, though they seem in a hurry to be in power, though number is abysmal right now.
On the other hand, NSCN (IM) has reportedly told the MLAs from Tirap, Changlang and Longding to be a united team, allegedly against the present Chief Minister. If the reports are true, this would not be the first time that underground elements have gotten involved in tussles among the power hungry politicians. There was a time when these elements were used for political gains but now it seems MLAs will be used by these same underground elements to dictate who should be in power. Certainly, it does not augur well for the state.
The Congress party owe it to the people of the state that internal strife within the party does not spill to the streets.
A state acutely divided on tribe affiliation and groups, it does not take much time or effort to spark unrest.
In 2011, when the transition from one Congress government to the other happened, everyone felt and saw how the state was divided on lines of tribe and its power equation. At the end of the day, it was common Arunachalees who suffered. One can only hope that times have taught us well and Congress would settle its internal problems quietly and within itself.
Those following the current political drama are also keenly watching what the incumbent at the Raj Bhavan is up to.
In a state which gave overwhelming majority to the Congress, the fact that current Governor is BJP appointed makes things a lot more complicated politically than it already is.
Don’t politicise refugee issue: BJP tells Congress
ITANAGAR, Oct 4: State BJP has told the Congress Party that the common and issues of larger state importance should not be communalised and turned to petty and partisan politics while refuting the Congress allegations that NDA had a role in grant of citizenship to the Chakma Hajong refugees.
In a release, BJP state unit spokesperson, Techi Necha stated that the Congress has always made a mockery of the democratic polity by misleading and diverting public attention, and now the party should realise and rectify their old habits and attitudes with the changing times and situations.
Stating that the Chakma Hajong issue is a very sensitive and emotional issue for the people of the state, Necha appealed the Congress High Command to enlighten the local Congress leaders how Congress Party allowed the settlement of Chakmas and the Hajongs in Arunachal Pradesh.
There was a Congress government at the Centre on 9th Jan 1996 when a major judgement was delivered by the Supreme Court directing that the application for citizenship of Chakmas and Hajongs should be looked into, and full protection be provided to them by State and Central Government, BJP said.

across the border and always stood for the protection of indigenous people, the release
added that there are various Parliamentary records where the Union government under

College Doimukh yesterday, the APEDA Director asked the students to share and disseminate the knowledge on conservation they have learnt during the workshop to their fellow students, family members and others.

Difficult time for nation
The killing of a Muslim man at Dadri near Noida over rumour that he had consumed beef is taking communal colour. The social media are filled with hate messages. Political parties are also trying their best to take maximum political mileage out of the incident. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Asaduddin Owaisi along with culture minister Mahesh Sharma who is also local MP visited the house of the victim. Controversial BJP MLA Sangeet Som who is an accused in Muzaffarnagar riots case today visited area and said he would try to get those arrested in the Dadri lynching case out on bail.
As a result of all of this, today political war broke between parties. BJP accused the Uttar Pradesh Government of giving communal colour to the incident. BJP's reaction came after the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met the victim's family and assured them of justice. On the other hand Congress party has accused both BJP and SP of playing communal politics. Unfortunately a criminal incident has been given communal colour by the politicians. They should not forget that a man was killed infront of his own family member. Imagine the kind of pain a mother must be going through at this moment after seeing her son being lynched. This is absolutely against the humanity. The need of the hour is to ensure that all the accused involved in the gruesome murder is strongly punished so that it sends out a loud message. Also the civil society bodies should play more active role and start a movement against the communal forces. Country is going through a difficult time and if timely action is not taken, India will get massively divided on communal line in days to come.

Dear Editor,
I am personally not in favour of your move to change leadership in Arunachal Pradesh as reported in media.
My question to you as an elected leader and me as the rightful citizen of the state is; what magic wand are you going to use to guarantee that the present unfortunate state of affairs in Arunachal Pradesh will turn to smart state of affairs?
Instead my suggestion to you and the camp members clogging on with you is to be with the present CM who already has established a relationship with the NDA govt at the centre and also being the choice of Sonia Gandhi and support him. This would actually pave the way for better social solidarity and better governance.
Now my contention to you and the elected members camping in Delhi is that, if at
all there is a need for change in leadership or for that matter change of govt in
the state is inevitable and if you and other elected members are serious to work
for the benefit of the people of the state, I give you an option; kindly resign from
primary membership of the Congress party and your MLA-
Be bold enough in going for Assembly Election and win with majority and form a new
govt in the state. This would truly solve the issue of Centre-
Further, if you cannot do it or if you say, not possible, please do not waste time in doing such activities which actually haven’t been fruitful even in the past.
Let the present govt do its best and kindly being the Congress MLA, help your CLP leader in doing good for the state instead of following the path which actually don’t have concrete answers.

Arunachalees have become guinea
pigs of the Indian constitution
Dear Editor,
Supreme court’s ruling, granting citizenship and settlement orders of Chakmas in Arunachal Pradesh is yet another blow to the people of state. The time of SC’s verdict is so precise that our Government can do nothing about it.
First of all the state is busy rectifying financial crisis and defusing an “ethnic supremacy time bomb “which is on verge of blowing up our state. I wonder what will be the next step of our think tank and selfstyled custodians of the people who lament to tackle any problems in the state. These people kept on putting up protest against the SC decision right from the beginning of the episode, but nothing has happened till date.
To me SC verdict is yet another stepmotherly treatment given to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
After the great debacle by Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru during partition and Chinese aggression ,these new development is yet another example of “you are not mine” or divide and rule policy. East India Company has left long ago but their policies are still being implemented on us and our neighbours. All the draconian laws are being enforced on us and our neighbours on SOS basis! Truly, we have become guinea pigs of the Indian constitution. You want AFSPA! enforce it. You want Chakmas to settle, put them with Arunachalees. I am not surprised today why there are resentments in every Tribal inhabited states.
Sometimes I wonder how our highest decision making house can give such an immature verdict. I mean , it’s something like pulling out the landlord from his house by the tenants and on top of it ,legalizing the act in eye of law. SC, s verdict without the consent of the citizen is really annoying and should be revoked immediately. No law enforcing agents whether it is SC should play with the sentiments of the people. Granting citizenship to known foreigners is really not necessary to fulfil human rights activist. To me refugee is a refugee and should live by limits. If they don’t agree, they should be sent back to their original place. Why so much of fuss in that? Whatever may be the provisions under constitution, a refugee cannot overwhelm the constitutional rights of a bonafide citizen and if any deplorable circumstances arise, a bonafide citizen should get the first preference in eye of the law.
My one question goes to SC is,’ why not settle all refugees in Delhi? Like other refugees! I have seen places like Majnukatilla in Delhi, Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh. Surprisingly, refugees live and flourish well in these places!
Today I lament, if Indian constitution is meant for people of Arunachal Pradesh then do not try and dig hole in the Constitution and appease some hand full refugees who left their motherland for their own good and are now trying to fool us by knocking the door of human rights commission. And remember, Arunachal Pradesh is not a refugee dumping ground and do not make us feel again that Indian Constitution is not meant for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Protests and rallies cannot and will never over rule Supreme Court verdict

The ongoing blame game played by political parties of AP, AAPSU and other Arunachalees show how lame and incompetent they are at solving the refugee problem. Chakmas and Hajongs and their leaders never in the past made their issue for selfish gains, but they and their leaders were united and stealthily, steadily and patiently pursued their interest according to constitutional pathways with India and even took their matter to UNO. They intellectually and legally handled their issue and even the Supreme Court of India had to grant them Indian citizenship. Now, it is impossible to revert or nullify the verdict of Supreme Court. In the history, there has never been a case in which the verdict of Supreme Court of India was reverted and therefore, the Central and AP government have to abide by the order of Supreme Court at any cost.
Let us not blame the Supreme Court for its verdict. The bitter truth is that we the People, Students, Elite Societies, Political and Student Leaders of AP have failed to solve the Chakma and Hajong issue.
Unlike Chakma and Hajong leaders, our political and student leaders provoked the people and students of AP to take out protests, rallies and even violence. Our political and student leaders made a big show of the issue in the public. Even the PIL were pursued half heartedly as long as it added to their leadership mileage. So, I feel that instead of playing the blame game by our political leaders to fool the people of AP to get votes, they should solve this issue like how the Chakma and Hajong leaders did silently and get the new judgment of Supreme Court and place it before the people of AP.
Then the concerned political party may claim that they have addressed the Chakma and Hajong issue for the common good of the people of AP. Students and people of AP have supported AAPSU without any question in the past and present. But, it is high time to question the students.
The AAPSU leaders used Chakma and Hajong issue and made great political and business careers, but never solved it. Presently, AAPSU is playing the old game again. Protests and rallies cannot and will never over rule the verdict of Supreme Court.
Let APSU get the new verdict of Supreme Court and them let them announce their work for the common good of AP, like the Chakma leaders. Chakma and Hajong citizenship issue can’t be pursued again, but other related issues like 1. Citizen eligibility criteria 2. Right to purchase land and properties in AP 3. APST status for them 4. relocation of them to other parts of India 4. Steps to prevent the ongoing sneaking 5. ILP requirement 6. their present population and many more issues should be pursued with supreme court.
Lastly, I would like to request our political parties and AAPSU to stop publicizing and politicizing the Chakma and Hajong issue, instead consult with constitutional lawyers and experts and others and pursue the matter in the Supreme Court. Chakma and Hajong issue can’t be addressed by blame game, protest rallies, or violence; it can only be addressed on constitutional and legal grounds. I also, request the editor of this esteemed daily, to publish the recent verdict of Supreme Court concerning citizenship of Chakmas and Hajongs for the people of AP, so that people of AP can contribute their ideas to address the issue.
Like how Our PM Modi accommodates the ideas of common people of India, our AP leaders and AAPSU should also provide mechanisms for common people and students to participate to address the issue. Let us wait and see, whether our AP political and APSU leaders repeats history or like Chakma and Hajong leaders do good for the betterment of Arunachal Pradesh.
